Bienvenido a España!
First, let's break down the basics:
Location: This beautiful country is located on the Iberian Peninsula in western Europe.
Government Constitutional Monarchy. This means there is a King, but laws and government processes are carried out by a Prime Minister and other government officials.
Language: Spanish in Spain is called Castellano. This is because in Basque Country you can find Basque, and in Catalonia you’ll find Catalan as well. But fear not, you’ll still hear Castellano(“Spanish” the most).
Known for: Depends where in Spain you are! There are 17 autonomous regions, each known for something different. But you’ll be sure to find olives, wine, and great food anywhere you go.
Fun fact: People in Spain are predicted to have the longest life expectancy in the world by 2040!
Currency: Spain is part of the Eurozone and the EU. The Euro is used here, and it’s way easier to get around by using cash, and smaller bills if possible.
To tip or not to tip?: Most restaurants already include a 10% service fee. So when you’re leaving, either round up to the nearest next euro or leave another 10% if the service was awesome.
