First, let's break down the basics:

Location: The Faros Islands reside in the Gulf Stream in the North Atlantic Ocean, between Iceland and Norway. There are 18 islands, with a population of about 50,000 people total.

Government: Since 1948, the Faroe Islands have been a self governing Parliament of Denmark. They have their own currency and also use the Danish Kroner (DKK)

Language: Faroese is the official language spoken on the islands. This language evolved form Old Norse. However they also speak English in most of the towns.

Known for: Fishing! Fishing makes up over 97% of the products exported from the islands. Industry population is followed by tourism, wool.
